Event planning ideas tumble out for the coming year

'If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail', said the American physicist Benjamin Franklin in the 18th century. No fear of that with our radio club.
Last night's meeting at the Golden Cock was devoted to planning events month by month for the coming year and seeking suggestions for fresh activations.

Special event station proposals ranged from the Emley Moor Motor and Steam Rally and the David Brown Tractor Museum to Kirklees Light Railway, World Amateur Radio Day and the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Several other ideas were forthcoming, including a barbecue, and they will now go before the club committee in two weeks' time to ensure a steady spread of activity over the year.
Some of our regular members were unable to be with us, but we mustered seventeen for a lively evening and it was a pleasure to welcome an old friend, John, G6GSV, son of Malcolm, G0ISX, and Caroline, G6ZWQ, who were also present.
Keep it quiet, but we have it on good authority (thanks Caroline!) that John was a child pirate – though not for long, as he passed his RAE aged fourteen. He's making a gentle return to amateur radio and we look forward to hearing him on the air.
