A touch of spice for second 50th anniversary station

Denby Dale ARC 50th anniversary station

The band condition forecast was poor – but no one seemed to have told the bands.

Plenty of QSOs were made on 7 and 14 MHz by GB5ODC, our second 50th anniversary special event station at Field Lane, Farnley Tyas.

Forty metres was in good nick for the UK and European neighbours, and Ian, 2E0ISD, made it across the pond on 20m using the Kenwood TS-590. Meanwhile Jerry, M5JB, was clocking up stations by the dozen on FT8.

This was a working day, so we were pleased to welcome nine operators including Mark, a new member, who is looking to take his foundation exam.

Darran G0BWB says: 'We were on the air in record time, so practice make perfect I guess! Finally, we know how it all goes together!'

An unexpected donation of freshly made samosas and onion pakora added spice to an enjoyable day.
