Celebrating Yorkshire Day at Farnley Tyas – in tropical heat

Denby Dale Amateur Radio Club's Yorkshire Day special events station

Club members celebrated a sweltering Yorkshire Day with HF and VHF stations at Farnley Tyas, using the callsign GB6YD.

Our permanent timber shack offered some relief from the sun for HF operators as the did the gazebo for those on VHF.

Sadly, 40 metres proved to be as flat as our mown field but two metres yielded plenty of contacts, including a number of other YD stations.

It was particuarly good to be wished Happy Yorkshire Day from a station in Lancashire. So many thanks to Brian and Barry for setting up and persuading the mast to rise – and thanks also to the operators and visitors. It was a good day with lots of fun.
