Picture special: Success as new shack is called into action for the first time

The club's new shack went into action for the first time on Thursday to host a special event station, GB80VED, to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

It was a great success with nearly 300 QSOs made on HF and VHF. Operators included Jerry, Darran, Ian and Barry. Below is a selection of pictures taken by Ian, 2E0ISD.

Club chairman Jerry, M5JB says: "We had three stations running, two on HF and one on two metres. The stations ran brilliantly and we had around 200 QSOs, working all modes.

"Two metres was brilliant. There must have been a lift on and we had some good pile-ups on HF, thanks to Richard putting us on the cluster.

"The shack worked perfectly and everyone was impressed with its layout. We had about six members operating, with others coming over to have a look and chat, a brilliant atmosphere."

Ian, 2E0ISD, said: "It was a great day, the new shed is a great asset, the coax and power connections through the shed wall a delight."
