At the 11th hour on the 11th day, we remembered them

Club members at our Remembrance Day special event station 2024

By Richard Blandford, M0RBG

As the bells at St Lucius' Church struck 11am on the 11th November, our radios fell silent as we remembered all those who had sacrificed so much.

A flag at the radio club shack flutters from the tower as we remembered them

On a glorious sunny autumn day our members ran a special event station GB6RD at our shack at Farnley Tyas.

We had lots of contacts on 2m but this was surpassed by our results on 40m and 20m, both SSB and CW.

Ian 2E0ISD was particularly active honing his skills on CW while Brian G0BFJ could be heard pulling in stations from all over the UK on 2m.

Another successful day, reminding us that our location at Farnley Tyas really is very special.

Thanks to our chairman Jerry M5JB for arranging the event.

Very good to see a radio club honouring those who fell in combat.
