A dotty mode? Discovering the magic of Morse


M0PIE using a straight Morse key

Why is Robert, M0PIE, using a spark transmitter with a straight Morse key in these days of SDR transceivers and computer-controlled digital modes?


The short answer is because he's a CW addict. It's said that his hands blister if he touches a microphone.


He'll be giving a talk about his love of all things Morse at our next meeting at the Farnley Cock on Wednesday, March 5 at 7.30pm.


The revolutionary aspects of the mode will be touched on as will the magic that he believes still draws operators in their thousands.


He's particularly keen to see members - or visitors - who have tried CW and given up or who dismiss it as irrelevant. He hopes to change your minds...
